Will I always have diabetes?

Yes. There is no cure for diabetes… but it can be treated.&Nbsp; Those with well-controlled blood sugar levels and those maintaining normal bodyweight, can look forward to a healthy life.

Planning means:

  • Monitoring blood sugar levels
  • Following a diet plan agreed upon by you and your dietitian
  • Exercising and maintaining a healthy body weight as recommended by your physician
  • Taking prescribed medications as recommended
  • Visiting your health care providers on a regular basis – this team might include: an endocrinologist, ophthalmologist, podiatrist, diabetes educator, etc.
  • Reporting any concerns and asking questions to your physician as they arise.
Maintaining a healthy life starts with you! Yes you will always have diabetes, but you can still live a healthy life.
